When we launched in 2015, our focus was on being a marketplace for Black women entrepreneurs. While we still hold a VERY dear place for Black women, we pivoted to celebrating ALL Black culture across the diaspora amidst a time when society tells us we shouldn’t be proud of who we are.
The name of our shop was inspired by the children of our founder, Krystine Green. With a background in Apparel Merchandising and a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, opening an ecommerce site seemed natural for her.
Krystine has a real passion for Black people, particularly Black women. Elinorah originally launched in 2015 as a place where women small business owners could list products, however it transformed over the years to being a place to celebrate everything about being Black within the diaspora. Krystine’s own heritage spans the diaspora, from descendants of those enslaved to her family in Barbados.
She owns and operates Elinorah out of Henderson, Nevada where she resides with her husband and two children (Eli and Norah!).
